Currently August

I am sharing my currently August and linking up with Anne in Residence here.  School has started up now for everyone; I work year round teaching, but it is always a different dynamic with my adult students once their kiddos are in school too.  My work schedule has changed for the first time in a year and it is crazy how much just this subtle change has thrown me off.  I’ve been working on my continuing education class and Devin has been home sick from work the last two days.  Beyond that, this is what I have been snacking on, anticipating, borrowing, admiring and purchasing 🙂 .

SNACKING ON…

string cheese and veggies.  I’m getting back into the keto groove after taking half a week off.  I lost 11 pounds and I have a ways to go still.  I’m posting about this diet more extensively soon.

ANTICIPATING…

the eclipse happening this month!  Devin has been so excited looking up glasses for us that are Nasa-approved.  We can see the eclipse pretty well from our house and he is planning on working from home to see it.  I’ve never seen an eclipse so I’m pretty excited.

BORROWING…

a carpet cleaner.  We have two different rugs in our house and they both needed it.  I’m impressed how clear they’ve stayed over the last four years, but after cleaning them up I’m kind of grossed out.  I’m not a huge fan of carpet and this kind of confirmed it.  My friend also said that it is great for cleaning tile and I’ve been working on our shower tile.

AADMIRING…

places in Ireland and places with cooler weather.  I can’t stop myself making a list of places I want to see next summer that are close by and cooler: Asheville, North Carolina is on the top of my list.

PURCHASING…

not very much.  We’re in saving mode for Ireland, but I do have a few items I need to pick up before October: a rain jacket, my pack, and some comfy waterproof shoes.  I’m also looking up pants that look like real pants, but are actually exercise leggings so I can wash/dry them in the sink faster.

What is something you’re currently doing in August?

  • I used to live in Asheville when I was in college, and it remains one of my favorite places! I’m in NC still, so I visit when I get the chance… doesn’t mean I miss it any less!

    • It seriously looks so amazing from everything I saw! I’d love to know your suggestions on where to visit and eat 🙂

  • Asheville is one of my favorite cities in the US and Ireland is one of my favorite countries, so I dig your choices! I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say about the keto diet later. I’ve been looking into that one recently and considering trying it out.

    • I so need your recommendations on places in Ireland and Asheville then!! The keto diet has been really helpful in getting me to eliminate some of trigger foods. Weight loss was expected, but feeling better was great. I’ve lost so much bloating and inflammation!

We’re hoping to stop in Asheville next summer. I really want to visit the Biltmore estate. I’ve seen some amazing pictures of it.

    • I’ve seen so many beautiful pictures of the estate too! Visiting the Biltmore is on my 101 in 1001 list that I need to finish up by 2018!

  • Someone was just telling me that I have to go to Asheville because it’s such a great place to visit. I’ve always wanted to go to Ireland so that will be an amazing trip!

    • We have a lot to look forward to in the travel department. I’m really looking forward to both trips!

  • Ireland is great! And I’d love to visit Asheville too. Also, I feel like using a carpet cleaner would be so SATISFYING. Maybe I should find one to borrow too 🙂

    • We just bought a tarp so I can take the rugs down to the garage without messing up our hardwoods. You know when you’ve become an adult when your excitement revolves around topics like carpet cleaning haha!

  • Oh man do I need a carpet cleaner. Ours are pretty bad… borrowing one is a good idea! I keep hearing about the keto diet but don’t really know much about it. Glad it’s working for you though!

    • We have two rugs in our house and no carpet, but they’re in such high traffic areas that the thought of what will come out of them makes me kind of shutter. So kind of our friends to loan us theirs!

  • I’d love to visit Ireland…all I saw of Ireland during my Wales/Great Britain study abroad was from the Dublin airport to the Dublin ferry.

    • I think it is so awesome you were able to do a study abroad in Wales and Great Britain. The missionary that taught my Dad was from Scotland so we visited her when I was a child, but that was the extent of my international travel until last year.
