I can’t believe it is May already.  I feel like this year is going by so quickly.  I signed up for something recently and told Devin it would be in June.  His response: “oh, that’s next month.”  WHAT?!  These are the things I’ve been currently doing…

BAKING…

not much.  I’m back to eating the 21 Day Fix way because I have become so bloated here lately.  I don’t use the Shakeology shakes because they are freakishly expensive and I found a different meal replacement powder that is just as healthy (non-GMO, vegan, organic and with more preotein and fiber) for a third of the price.

LISTENING TO…

audio books.  I had a carpool friend my first year of teaching and she always picked out the best audio books.  I’m trying it out again now that I’m realizing how easy it is for me to listen to them on my phone!  Any suggestions?

LOVING…

our new duvet cover and sheets (my mood board is here)!  I scored 1600 thread count sheets for under $30 and our bed feels like heaven.  I also just started using a cream based bronzer from Mary Kay (it is discontinued or I would put it here) and I love it.  My previous bronzer was a powder finish and had some sparkles in it that I didn’t like.  I’m loving the cream base a lot and it looks very natural!!

PLANTING…

flowers for our porch!  Last month, we made a mailbox garden and put flowers around that as well.  Devin is working on our veggie garden in the backyard.

REMEMBERING…

all of the things I feel like I need to be doing.  It doesn’t matter how much time you think you will have or what season of life you are in, there is never enough time to do all of the things you want to do.  I have a big pile to take to the thrift store after cleaning out our room as well as some piles in our guest bedrooms.  Once I finish putting everything together in our master bedroom, I plan on simplifying our kitchen utensils, silverware, dishes, and Tupperware.

What is something you’re currently doing in May?

  • You’ve probably already listened to it, but The Help is AMAZING on audiobook. Also, I thought the narration on Memoirs of a Geisha was decent (but maybe it’s just because I loved the book, so I was willing to go along with it).

  • I’ve just started in on audiobooks myself. Mostly I’ve done the funny lady ones – like Amy Poehler’s book. They’re so good when they read their own work! And I love the little mailbox garden – what a great way to add some nice curb appeal.

    • Thank you so much!! I’ve been surprised that I enjoy listening to more technical audio books than I would enjoy reading. I guess different formats attract different things. I need to try some funny books like you suggested too though!

  • I’ve never listened to audiobooks on my phone before. Do they take up a lot of space? When I used to commute I’d listen to book on cds in the car. What a great deal you got on the sheets! And I hear you on not having enough time to do everything. There’s always something that needs to be done! Thanks for linking up!

    • I downloaded the overdrive app and connected it to my local library. What I love is when I open it, it redirects me to play stuff in my browser (so, I never have to download it!!). I love it because then it doesn’t take up any space and I can have 5 on loan at anytime!! Always tons and tons of stuff needing to be done. Thanks for cohosting such a fun linkup!

I really need to try audiobooks when I walk. I can listen to podcasts, so I think I can handle it. I haven’t read or listened to it but I recommend checking out Lincoln in the Bardo b/c I hear it’s great and it has TONS of people reading, including some big names.

    • Thank you so much for the recommendation!! I listen to audio books/podcasts when I am cleaning the house. I feel like I sit enough already when I’m blogging or watching TV that it was so refreshing to find a hobby that helped me get more stuff done. It has been such a huge helper for me!!

And in case you never tried a sample, shakeology is GROSS.

    • Hahaha I loved the chocolate vegan mixed in with frozen strawberries + vanilla soy milk. I’ve tried some other shake mixes and I’m not in love with their taste, but you can just keep throwing fruit at something and it will eventually taste awesome!
