February Recap + March Goals

I absolutely can’t believe it is March, but I’ve decided I’m going to give myself a slower month; I think that is what my body has been kind of asking for.  As usual, there were more highs than lows, and I’m just enjoying the lovely spring weather.

HIGHS

I was having the worse flare up from mid-last month until the first few weeks in this one.  Well, the great news is I have been feeling really awesome.  I knew as soon as I started feeling better, I was going to start exercising again.  I’ve been on an excellent exercise kick for the last two weeks.  In the last week alone, I’ve logged 6 exercise videos 🙂 .  I’m excited to keep it up and I have a great workout buddy from church.

I also went to an ESL teacher conference.  It made me feel pumped and have a ton of ideas about things I want to be doing in my classroom.  I have plans to go to a few more this year.  It was great to see grad school friends!

I have a super nose. It is both a blessing and a curse. However, this time of year? Totally amazing. I absolutely love the way Georgia smells. When we get back from long trips, I spend 10 minutes smelling our yard and raving about all of the smells . Devin is used to how excited l get about things so he just goes in the house, but let's be honest: we all have quirks. What is one of yours?

When I do backend stuff on my blog, I usually don't post a lot. There aren't a lot of areas of my life that I like to control, but blogging has always been my safe place for that. It always feels so therapeutic to be so technical there.

Sorry! Maybe error link or deleted link.

LOWS

One of the stores that I had stocked with candles for a holiday pop up shop sent back my unsold candles + picture frames with about three pages of tissue paper.  Needless to say, I received more damage than I did from sales and I felt very frustrated.  I have been really quiet about candles and it is mostly because I just have to take a break.  I’ve had some really unfortunate experiences with businesses since I began and a large goal of mine is to like people more and not less 😉 .  I’m taking a break and potentially turning my candle business into a holiday pop up shop.  Either way, I won’t be doing whole sale or pop ups where I am not explicitly with my stock the whole time.

MY FAVORITES

Fun fact: Devin’s grandpa sings barbshop quartet and Devin’s Mom competes in the female equivalent of it.  Because of that, Devin introduced me to how amazing acapella music is 🙂 . This is forever old, but it is one of my favorite acapella mashups from my undergrad university, BYU.  And yes, that is alll only voices.

Now for goals 🙂 …

This year has been great for hammering out goals, but not necessarily the ones I have been setting.  That kind of makes me laugh, but oh well.  I’m looking forward to another great month!

Reviewing goals from February:

  • Read scriptures, church talks, or lessons for 31 days straight
  • Go to the temple twice
  • Lose 5+ pounds
  • Finish 3 of any of the following posts: DC, Europe, Mexico
Nope, but I did a lot of work on them! 🙂
  • Continue cleaning and purging our house
Am I where I want to be?  No, but it is definitely a start.
  • Read 4 books
  • Continue updating my Pinterest images in the blog- the new ones are cute!
I re-did them all and they look great!  Check them out here.
  • Build up an inventory of 20+ candles
I currently have 22 damaged candles in my inventory.  I don’t want to make a ton of candles until I can make up the losses from liquidating them at a major discount.

Goals for March:

  • Read 31 chapters of scripture, 10 church talks, and go to the temple 1 time
  • Purge every room in our house to simplify more
  • Exercise 15 times
  • Read 3 books

What were some high and lows for you in January?  What is a goal you have for February?

  • I really like how you include highs and lows from the month as well. I might think about doing that for next month. Also, I forget how I found your link up but I believe it was accidentally so I think it’s so cool how you are also a Christian! Look forward to continuing to link up with you in the coming months!! 🙂

    • I’d love to read your highs and lows. I don’t think the idea is original to me, but I don’t know where I saw it. I like that it realistically shares the month 🙂 . So glad you found my blog and you joined the linkup! I love connecting with others and I followed your blog on bloglovin 🙂

  • I taught ESL for a year in the Czech Republic. I’m sure you had an amazing time at the conference! I also love that mirror! It’s so unique.

    • I taught Special Education for a few years before going to grad school for ESL. I learned so much about teaching in Special Education, but I absolutely love this population!! I bet you had the time of your life teaching ESL 🙂

  • Laura

I feel ya on not feeling well but i’m glad you had two weeks where you did!!! Huzzah for feeling well enough to workout! I can’t wait to start that again. Purging the house has taken a bit of a backseat to regular cleaning- which is not near as fun. I’d much rather go through stuff than clean the bathroom. all well.

    • Haha yes, I’d rather go through stuff than do regular cleaning as well. It seems so much more rewarding and the difference is so much more visible!!

  • I definitely didn’t meet my workout goals last month. Blogging daily took up so much time!

    • Huge props to you! I don’t think I could blog everyday and still love it. I’m so impressed you do that every year!!

  • I wish I had more time for reading! When I made my list of goals, I only decided that I was gonna try and read one book. Ha! I used to be such a “bookie”!
And I’m super jealous of your Georgia weather right now! It’s still quite gloomy and wintery up in northern Indiana (February taunted us up here with beautiful spring like temps)!
Posted my link! Glad to be back here!

    • Georgia just dropped down back to the 30s this week. What in the world?! I have made high goals for reading books, but they almost never happen. Maybe one book a month is the way to go 🙂

  • Tracking your excercise by videos done is a good idea! I am seriously struggling to motivate myself to be more active and track my activity, so I’m going to keep that in mind! Good luck with your March goals! Nature’s first green is gold 🙂

    • I really enjoy workout videos a lot because I don’t have to leave my house or look decent haha. It has helped because I have a teenager from church who is my exercise buddy and she is really on the ball with it! Good luck with your March goals and great poem reference 😉

  • I like how quantifiable your goals are. And best of luck purging every room in the house. I’ve always half purged, but never like, really gone all in. It’s on my to do list.

    • Man, once I went all in on my closet, there was no stopping me on everything else in our house! It has been very freeing and definitely helpful for cleaning.
