HOME TOUR: Living room

Our home is hand me down and thrift store central and I kind of love it that way- our living room is probably the cheapest room in the house!  I like having a colorful and decorated home, but I am not willing to do it expensively.  Sometimes I get the bug and think about updating things, but then I remember I would rather travel.  Almost all of our friends in the burbs have kids and we will too someday, so I never want to have items in my house I have to spend ridiculous amounts of times worrying over.

I often have a box full of decor I find from the thrift store that I rotate in and out of the house.  Since this is the room that people first see when they come into our house, it makes sense that this is probably the room I keep moving around the most.

Something we would like to improve in the future is the lack of lighting because there isn’t any ceiling lighting!  It makes it odd since this is our entry and exit room to talk to someone leaving our home in a very dimly lit area.  At this point, our electric panel is completely full and we’d have to completely upgrade it to have more lighting wired for the house (that’s a few thousand dollars).  In the mean time, I am checking out some affordable lamps and I’d also like to save up for a rug that is more forgiving for dirt.

  • How did I never notice that you guys have a piano? I love this room and it’s so nice to have a separate living room and family room space like you guys do!

    • Thanks Paige! πŸ™‚ Our house hasn’t changed much since we had you over last. We haven’t invited much people over because of Devin’s work schedule, but we’ll have to change that once it gets better!! πŸ™‚

  • MMMMk I love that armoire/cabinet in the corner. SO rustic yet classy!

    • Thank ya ma’am! πŸ™‚ The pie safe is from the 1800s. I lucked out because it was a hand me down from my Momma!

    Your living- room is beautiful!

I live in a one-room apartment. I also play the piano because IΒ΄m studying to be a music teacher.

Tank you for shearing your great photos!

    Greetings from Buenos Aires

    • My husband and I lived in a very, very small apartment when we were in college and just married. Before we were married though, I had 5 roommates in a small apartment. It was a fun time, but I like having a home. Do you have a video of yourself playing the piano on your blog? I would love to see it!! πŸ™‚

Waw! ItΒ΄s so nice that you answer my comments, thank you so much Autumn. I have a YouTube channel where you can hear me sing. In my Facebook I have a video playing the piano and singing “Fly me to the moon” but I am at the office and the facebook web is blocked. In my apartment I donΒ΄t have access to internet, I used to share internet with my next door neighbor but she moved out, and installing a new internet WiFi it has been a nightmare.

Here is my YouTube channel, I hope you enjoy it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRY2A9hXGDY&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I will soon upload a home-made video of “Dream a little dream of me”.
        Have a nice day!

        • I really enjoyed your video- your voice is very pretty and I was able to understand a little bit of the Spanish!!

          • Bel

Thank you for watching it! you are so nice! <3

          • It was my pleasure!! πŸ™‚

  • I love the little details! I think it’s what makes a space!

    • Thank you!! I love collecting small pieces for my home.

  • Oh my gosh! You and I have such similar taste it’s kind of scary. I have a turquoise wing chair, lots of white milk vases, and a fab corner cabinet as well. I laughed out loud because of this.I also thrift just about everything. All so very lovely.

    • This is so fun!!! I have never had a decoration twin and so I will gladly accept it πŸ™‚

  • Love the colors.

  • Your home looks so cozy and inviting.
    I love it!

    xoxo, Jenny

    • Thank you! That is exactly what I was going for πŸ™‚

  • Looks great! Nice photos πŸ™‚ xoxo

  • Your home looks so much like my Great Aunts house. Which is a good thing! It’s so homey and comfortable looking <3

    • Haha Devin calls my style granny style and I’m totally fine with it. Homey and comfortable is exactly what I try to go for πŸ™‚
