changes: Stay gold Autumn is back!

I began writing Stay gold Autumn in 2011; there have been so many changes!  Four and a half years ago, I was a student teacher and newlywed living in Utah.  Now, I am on the other side of the country, will be celebrating my fifth year of marriage in December, going to grad school, and Devin and I are living in our first home!

In my absence from blogging, I spent a lot of time deciding the direction I wanted to go with this space.  Ultimately, I decided to make the move from blogger, my blogging home for seven years, and move to a self-hosted wordpress site.  I also made the decision to privatize my archives so I had the opportunity to re-tell my story with more creative effort.  My blog is now on facebook too.

I’ve always had a very reflective personality and my blog previously talked a lot about trying to figure out where I fit into this world and how I would best contribute.  There was a point a few months ago when I realized that more than ever in my life I am very confident in my identity, but I do know that I still have work on becoming the person God knows I can further become; I know my strengths and weaknesses, I am so happy with the direction my life is going, and I get my husband by my side for all of it!  This knowledge was hard earned with what I like to affectionately call “the Job years”– literally, the most consistently crazy and hard years of my life.

I learned through this process that anyone can have hard things happen to them, but the hard part is finding gratitude and joy through it.   I consider myself naturally more of a realist than an optimist, but I’m up for the challenge.  Stay gold Autumn, moving forward, will talk a lot about keeping the good things in my life good.
